2015 Co-educators
2015 UConn Co-educators Begin Their Cape Town Adventures

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no illustrations to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,

Onna was inspired by the passion of former participant

Hi! I'm Onna, I am a junior at UConn majoring in Spanish & Communications. I heard about the Cape Town program through a friend, Morgan Croce, who took the trip in 2013. When she suggested and explained the program to me, I could hear the passion in her voice about this amazing place and I was intrigued. I knew I wanted to study abroad, and after hearing about the internship I decided I would apply my junior year. I feel that the study abroad experience anywhere in the world is life changing, but the idea of studying while doing good in the community was something I could not pass up. I am incredibly grateful, excited, and overwhelmed about being selected to participate in this program. We've only had our first pre departure meeting but I can already feel the anticipation. But don't want to think about leaving too much, I still have to focus on the rest of this semester! I like going into experiences with zero expectations, so I have room to be surprised and nervous at the same time. I'm also excited to spend 4 months with people who start off as strangers but turn into family. I think I'm ready for Cape Town, but is Cape Town ready for me?
