2015 Co-educators
2015 UConn Co-educators Begin Their Cape Town Adventures

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

As anyone who has participated in UConn's Education Abroad in Cape Town will tell you, there are no words to adequately explain the depth of the experiences, no illustrations to sufficiently describe the hospitality of the people, and no pictures to begin to capture the exquisite scenery. Therefore this blog is only intended to provide an unfolding story of the those co-educators who are traveling together as companions on this amazing journey.

As Resident Director of this program since 2008 it is once again my privilege and honor to accompany another group of students to this place I have come to know and love.

In peace, with hope,

Ashlyn hoping to build upon her previous Community Outreach experiences

I’m Ashlyn and I’m currently a junior Marketing major and Human Rights minor, as well as a running and reading enthusiast. Upon entering college I never envisioned myself studying abroad, but upon hearing about the Cape Town education abroad program I thought I’d look more into it. Nothing inspires me more to make a positive impact on world than my experiences on alternatives breaks here at UConn. I found out about this study abroad program through some girls I met on an alternative break. My hope is that my non-profit internship will motivate and impact me the same (or more) than my experiences with Community Outreach. I feel honored and humbled to be given a life in which studying abroad for 3 ½ months is even a possibility, much less a reality. I look forward to my many adventures abroad and the many new faces I’m to meet (which of course includes getting closer to all the other UConn students going to Cape Town).
